Drawing from your knowledge of the molecular machinery that governs gene expression and regulation, this course provides a deeper quantitative understanding of the physical principles that control regulation, speed, and accuracy in biological processes. You will learn to develop mathematical models for these processes. These skills are necessary for quantitatively linking biochemical reactions (molecular level) with physiology and population biology (cellular level) and are relevant for both basic research in molecular biology and practical industrial applications where cells are used as production tools.
